Local Video Editor with AI Captions
Caption Room is a desktop video editor for Windows 10 and 11 focused on short-form video with strong captions. Editing, timeline work, and final export happen on the local machine; only the audio track is sent to a server for transcription, which shortens the trust story around raw footage and unfinished cuts. The AI captioning step returns word-timed transcripts in 99+ languages, so the sync between spoken word and on-screen text stays tight instead of drifting across a line.
Caption Styles and Formats
Five caption looks are offered out of the box: Classic, Bubble, Boxed, Neon, and Minimal. Exports cover the aspect ratios that short-form platforms actually use, including 9:16 for TikTok and Reels, 1:1, 4:5, and 16:9, and captions can also be written out as.srt files for upload to platforms that display their own player captions. A translation pass lets the editor rewrite every caption into another language while preserving the original timing.
Editing Toolbox
- Timeline-based editing with layers, audio tracks, color grading, and text overlays for standard cutting work.
- Picture-in-picture and multiple aspect ratio outputs support reaction-style and multi-shot compositions.
- Exports are watermark-free on every tier, including the free one.
Plans
A free tier ships the desktop editor with manual captions and the core editing tools. A Pro subscription unlocks the AI captioning and translation features, offered at 12 USD per month or 99 USD as lifetime access on the pricing page. Pricing is per the official site.
